PISCIOTTAPisciotta Marina is situated at the foot of the hill of Pisciotta Paese, a small romantic fishing town with fishing harbor and numerous lovely restaurants. From the tranquil and idyllic boardwalk, you can see the nearby Cap of Palinuro. The coastal road can be reached over the only street that runs from the coast uphill through several olive groves.
First, the Marina was only used as a boats pier for fishing boats and for homes of the fishermen. Because of its geographical position, the town did not grow quickly. The olive groves on the surrounding hills form a different picture of the countryside, since this is a special kind of olive trees, that only grow in this area, and that carry the name of the village. In a worldwide comparison was the olive oil Olivio Pisciottano chosen by an international jury to be the best oil of the year in 1997.
